Get a Website

Welcome to Affordable WordPress Websites!

This page contains all the details about the websites I build, what I provide and what I don’t provide to my clients.

Why do you need a website for your business? Because of all those people with iPhones and other portable devices to reach the internet from wherever they are. You need your business listed in Google Local so all those iPhone users can search for you and find you. The phone book is dying. You need a web presence.

I set up sites using the WordPress software platform. Sites can be set up as a static site (unchanging home page), as a blog, or a static site with a blog. If you choose to start with a static site, a blog can be added later. The choice is up to you and the price is the same no matter which you choose.

I recommend having a blog with your website. Google really likes blogs and WordPress, and your organic search engine rankings will be higher if you keep a blog on your site. Keep in mind that ghost writers can be hired to write for you if you don’t want to write articles yourself.

Here are the details:

Cost:

SALE!:

  • $200 $150 for a single website (50% down payment):

  • $850 $700 for 5 websites purchased all together (50% down payment):

Includes initial site set-up, installation of WordPress software on your server, choosing a theme from my themes page and installing it, and installation of any plugins you’ll need to make your site work effectively.

Some customization is available, although I do not write themes so I don’t rewrite themes.

Does not include custom banner or header design. I can recommend a graphic artist to you if you need a logo banner designed.

If you have a jpg file of your banner or header, I may be able to incorporate it in the site header or make it a photo at the top of your page, depending on its compatibility with the theme you choose.

Down payment:

  • 50% of cost of the work requested
  • orders accepted through PayPal (you don’t need a PayPal account of your own to use my buttons)
  • When the work is complete I will invoice you for the balance

Once I receive down payment and the following information, I will get to work on your site right away.

  • Your host information (server info)
  • Login info for your host account (i.e. HostGator)
  • Your domain name and company you bought it from
  • Login info for your domain company (i.e. Dynadot or GoDaddy)
  • Login info to your AWeber account if you want me to build your email signup form.

See below for details. Please read all the way to the end of the page.

Hosting:

I recommend HostGator as the hosting company. You can click on the underlined link or on the HostGator banner on the right of your screen to open an account.

They are inexpensive ($4.95-$9.95 per month), you can have an unlimited number of domains (web addresses and sites), they have a graphical user interface that is fairly easy to use, and they switched to wind power in 2008 so they are a green company and not dependent on the electrical grid.

If you don’t have a host you can sign up with HostGator here. Get a “Baby Croc” account to start.

I will need your login information so I can set up your website.

Domain Name Registration:

I will also need the domain name for your site (URL or website address). Your host servers must be input in your domain name account. If you need assistance with this I’ll either do it for you or walk your through how to do it. I use Dynadot.com for my domain names. You can use GoDaddy for domain names, but use HostGator for hosting. DO NOT use Dynadot or GoDaddy for hosting.

If I do it for you, I will need your login information.

Access:

I will need all your account login information for your host and domain providers.

I need an email address and phone number so I can contact you, and we will need to discuss some things. I can’t read your mind and you can’t read mine, so speak up and ask if you don’t understand something. I will ask you if I don’t know what you want.

I’ll need your host IP address number (aq.by.xo.yqw but will be numbers) which will be provided by your site host and your password.

I will need to install WordPress and some other things onto your website through your host account.

I’ll also need your nameserver information. Those come in your HostGator or other account email in the format of ns553.hostgator.com and ns.554.hostgator.com. There will be two and I need both.

Email List Building:

I recommend AWeber as your autoresponder if you wish to create prospect and customer email lists for newsletters or to advertise specials to your customer only or prospect only lists.

I like AWeber because you can have prospects who choose to buy opt into a new list and unsubscribe them automatically from an old list when they opt-in to the new one, allowing you to separate buyers from prospects.

This way you can contact your buyers with special offers, other promotions, etc. You can get an AWeber account here. We can put an email opt-in form directly on your website to get people to sign up on your email list.

I will need your AWeber account login information if you want me to set up your email list and put the form on your website.

Loose Ends:

Once I have the above, I can set up your initial site.

I give you one hour of customization free with website purchase. If you buy multiple websites at a time, each site gets one hour of customization time.

I provide customization beyond initial site build, maintenance and other assistance at the rate of $40/hr, and I’m really generous with each hour. If you don’t use a whole hour you aren’t billed for a whole hour.

Some folks are willing to dig into the WordPress admin panel and learn it (not hard if you already have a blog on another platform or know HTML, Javascript, CSS or PHP) and some folks don’t want to mess with it. They higher out the WP maintenance that comes up, usually monthly to bi-monthly. It’s up to you.

Maintenance usually entails updating WP software to the new version and updating or replacing plugins. Plugins are necessary for WP to operate with the flexibility needed to make great websites.

As a first time buyer, I am always searching online for articles that can help me. Your blog has been great, Thank you :) .

What do recommend against godaddy for hosting? I have a couple of domains registered there and the next step is to have them hosted so I can setup a self hosted Wordpress website/blog.

    What not use godaddy?

  5. 5.joubess Says:

    @FormsOfPlato,

GoDaddy has a neutral to negative reputation for locking your account for too much sudden traffic to your websites. Then you have to call them and convince them you’re not spamming. If you happen to make a great post or get a lot of sales on a product and your traffic jumps instead of growing gradually, you can end up with your site locked for a week or more. Getting that kind of traffic boost and then your site being inaccessible for days will lose any traction you gain, and could completely ruin a great blog.

Go with HostGator or Dreamhost. HostGator is robust and inexpensive. Dreamhost is a little more expensive, but Yaro uses it and swears by it. I use a love HostGator because you can host a huge number of websites for one low monthly fee.

If you sign up for HostGator, please sign up through my link. It won’t cost you a penny more, but will earn me a small commission for the referral. Same with AWeber.

Nice to see that there are blog owners that care about their blogs and not post all kind of useless stuff but rather try to keep it clean and valuable for the sake of their subscribers. You’ve done a great job and i thank you for that and also for not traumatizing me with useless garbage and spam. You know, if you look for new ways to promote and improve you blog, i’ve open myself a corner of cyberspace and i would like to share it with you and your visitors, because it’s a good chance for anyone to learn how they can promote their websites and any online business if they have any for free or very low costs.I’m still getting it done and working on it as we speak, so it’s not as i wish but it’s a work in progress that already has value to it. If you care and wann help maybe you will link to it and why not let your friends know. It will get crazy this month cause i will give away alot of goodies.Visit:
